What are the age requirements for participants?

Ages nine through fourteen. Exceptions can be made upon discussion and observation.

Is the sport open to both boys and girls?

Yes!

What are the safety precautions in place?

Boffer swords and shields are checked by our coaches, who are all trained to detect equipment abnormalities. Our standards ensure the safety of participants. Participants are also courage to wear gloves and knee pads. 

Tags to the head and face do not count towards any points being scored, however they do occur on occasion. The use of head/face protection is permitted, but must be approved by coaches for use on field.

Are there any prerequisites for playing?

No, any level is skill is welcome to experience Boffer combat.

What is the experience level of the instructors?

Our instructors are all trained to be instructors of the sport, guides for the team, and wardens of the field.

Who are these coaches?

Our coaches are experienced athletes in the Boffer sports community who are familiar with the safety needs, rules and regulations of this sport. Our coaches undergo a safety background check and a coaching seminar to create a safe environment for kids to play.

What will my kid be doing?

Your child will be learning the fundamentals of sword and shield play. They will be a part of a group warm up, team and individual drills, and organized play with friends and foam rivals.
